Authors Notes - "Machines" is another short story that came off the cuff when I had a picture in my mind and built a little scenario around it. My take on life is split into two different directions. I think we can determine most of what happens to us, at least to a large extent. But I'm not blind to the fact that it's very easy to see yourself caught up in some kind of huge enterprise that you really can't see unless you look for it. A forest for the trees scenario I guess you could say. I like the old man and I like his attitude. I also like his willingness to let things run along without him, with the full realization that he, like everyone else, is just part of a larger picture.

Although extremely short, this story will have you thinking about life, love and what it all means, For me, this is a story about what our world seems to have become and why sometimes we;d rather just take that last breath and be with loved ones who have passed on then have a medical industry hook us to their machines and give us an almost artificial life. Very short but gets a lot done. I downloaded all this authors short stories and its easy to see he has something going. I like his style. He could probably use a little more editing and maybe tune things up a bit but he has a good feel to his stuff.
If you answered yes, read this now and show it to your co-workers. (bring a box of tissue)
If you answered no, it has nothing to do with machines, this is not a tech manual. Skip it.
And yes I work in a nursing home so 4 stars.
